Let’s Talk…

Wendell Berry observed that “True solitude is found in the wild places, where one is without human obligation” — the places where “one’s inner voices become audible.”

So in silence and solitude one is able to know & rebuild one’s true self via introspection, redefining & fine tuning one’s thoughts, morals, values & beliefs.

Having done that… Coming back to life & the living can be quite disorienting – connecting and communicating with people again…

But, the easiest communication is simply talking because talking is so easy, isn’t it?

“Are you lost or incomplete?
Do you feel like a puzzle, you can’t find your missing piece?
Tell me, how do you feel?
Well, I feel like they’re talking in a language I don’t speak
And they’re talking it to me”

“So you don’t know where you’re going and you wanna talk
And you feel like you’re going where you’ve been before
You tell anyone who’ll listen, but you feel ignored
Nothing’s really making any sense at all, let’s talk
Let’s talk, let’s talk, let’s talk…”

According to Kahlil Gibran’s prophet-protagonist, “You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts;
And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips, and sound is a diversion and a pastime.
And in much of your talking, thinking is half murdered.”

He adds, “There are those among you who seek the talkative through fear of being alone.
The silence of aloneness reveals to their eyes their naked selves and they would escape.”

But there’s nothing important as communication to humans to be & remain human.

We Talk using Spoken Word.

Writing is Written Word.

Painting – Visual Communication

I’m done with talking.

I’ve always been painting.

And now, it’s time to write.

While talking may murder half the thought depending upon the speed of thought & it’s sync lag with speech…

Painting mostly captures emotion that is potent, powerful, explosive and allows me to express it effectively in an encrypted manner. (Abstract / Symbolism)

Writing lies somewhere between Talking and Painting. It retains all of my ideas & actually helps me add layers upon them as opposed to half murdering thoughts. I can filter out whatever emotion I need to and it allows me to articulate my thoughts – carefully and elaborately. I can contruct, evaluate, edit and deliver… Or delete.

Or quote Coldplay and Khalil Gibran in the same post…
